A l’international, on suppose qu’il fera 100% de prix dont 6e, 8e, 17e, 27e, 45e, 46e, 48e, 50e…parmi 12.119 pigeons. Sur Agen, chez les yearlings au national : 1 , 8, 88,91,… parmi 1.645 pigeons. Le père DUBOIS n‘est pas né de la dernière pluie. Contrairement à la belotte, les pigeons, c’est son domaine depuis presque 50 ans ! En 1994, il était déjà champion d’Europe. En 2015, il avait le meilleur pigeon international avec INVICTUS, actuellement à la reproduction chez BATENBURG-VD MERWE. En 2018, il récidive et dispose à nouveau du meilleur pigeon International avec ARISTO, 1/82 frère du premier pigeon cité. La preuve qu’à Dohem, il y a du crack Coulon !
Michel DUBOIS is not a new comer at international level. I know from his neighbour that he is not a good card player, but when it is about the pigeons, Michel is on the top of the list. He have pigeons since +/- 50 years. In 1994 he was european marathon champion! In 2015 he had the best international bird on 3 International races. The bird, named INVICTUS, is today at the breeding lofts from BATENBURG VD MERWE. Last year, in 2018, he had again the best International bird on 3 international races with ARISTO. The 2 International Acebirds are half brothers!!
Quand as-tu commencé à jouer à pigeon et comment as-tu évolué ?
When did you start to play pigeon and how did your carreer evolved ?
J’ai débuté ma carrière en 1972 grâce à mon voisin Christian. Dans ma famille, personne n’avait de pigeons. C’est lui qui m’a mis le pied à l’étrier. Le jour où il a arrêté de jouer à son compte, je lui ai proposé de m’aider. Voilà déjà 25 ans que nous travaillons ensemble. Je m’occupe des voyageurs ainsi que des jeunes, et lui m’aide beaucoup avec les femelles des veufs et les reproducteurs. Il a encore quelques reproducteurs chez lui, ce qui nous permet d’y passer des œufs. Depuis le début des années 1990, je joue les concours de longues distances.
I began to play with pigeon in 1972 thanks to my neighbour Christian. In my family nobody had pigeons. He helped me a lot in my beginning years. When he stopped to play pigeons 25 years ago I proposed him to play with me. Still there we are working together. He is responsaible fort he breeders, the hens from the racing cocks and from the foodsters. I am responsible for the racers and for the youngsters. Since beginning of the 90ties I am playing long distances and I am focused on since then.
Peux tu me décrire en quelques mots ta méthode ?
Can you describe me in a few words your methode ?
Chaque pigeon a un objectif. Il peut se louper avant et après, mais quand c’est le jour J de son objectif fixé il a intérêt de répondre présent, sinon il peut se faire du souci. Je fais un planning par pigeon en fonction de l’objectif. Je pars de la date de l’objectif et je remonte le temps. A une semaine avant le top départ, un dernier coup de panier, deux semaines avant un 550-600 km. En général, j’essaye d’avoir 3 semaines entre le 500-600 kilomètres et l’enlogement, mais je remets en vitesse la semaine avant le départ pour le moral du pigeon. Mes pigeons voient le panier dès l’année de leur naissance. Mes 1 an sont joués piano. Pas de concours au-delà de 550 kilomètres (Limoges). Les 1 an n’ont pas besoin de faire de prix. A deux ans, ils font leur 1er concours international. Généralement, je les limite à ce concours et ne leur demande pas de faire prix. A 3 ans, les choses sérieuses commencent avec deux concours internationaux où je demande du résultat. Pour Barcelone, je préfère des pigeons de 4 ans et plus. C’est ainsi que je fais avec mes mâles. Etant en phase test avec une petite équipe de femelles, je me permets de les jouer même à un an à l’international. Je possède une centaine de pigeons pour le jeu, dont 60 mâles de 2 ans et plus, 30 mâles yearlings et quelques femelles à l’essai.

When they are one year old they go on maximum 550 kilometer. When they are 2 years I put them for the first time on a international race, but never on a second. I do not ask to my yearlings and two years old birds to have good results. They have only to come home in a good condition. Then when they are 3 years old I play them 2 times, sometimes 3 on international races and ask them to have results. For Barcelona I prefer 4 year birds with experience. That was for my cocks. Form y little team of hens I handle differently because I am in a trying period. They go to the international races from yearling on.
Comment prépares-tu tes pigeons ?
How do you prepare your pigeons ?
La préparation commence en hiver. Mes pigeons tous ensemble en volière d’octobre à Mars. Jusqu’à la fin de la mue, ils y reçoivent un mélange mue, puis jusqu’à mars un mélange composé de super diät et de dépuratif. A partir de mars, ils passent dans leurs colombiers respectifs. Dans ces colombiers, il y a des caillebotis dans les casiers et des copeaux de bois au sol, ce qui me permet de nettoyer mes colombiers une fois par semaine et de passer plus de temps à les observer. Les pigeons ont toujours de la nourriture dans la mangeoire. Je vide la mangeoire une fois par semaine, généralement le dimanche. En période de concours, ils ont un bon mélange toute la semaine et ne reçoivent ni cacahuètes ni vitamines. J’utilise les produits MAPP et ne donne plus de médicaments depuis 3 ans. J’ai fait contrôler mes pigeons. Ils n’ont rien. Je ne suis pas le plan à la lettre, car je n’aime pas ça et j’aurais du mal à m’y plier. J’utilise l’EPATODRAINE en début de semaine et le PULMORESPI en fin de semaine. Je fais au feeling. Les pigeons ont deux volées par jour chaque jour à partir de Mars. Les volées ne sont jamais forcées. Avant la saison, je les entraine un peu moi-même mais plus pendant la saison. Je n’ai pas de marque fixe pour mes mélanges. Chaque année, je fais des tests de germination. En fonction de ce test je privilégie un mélange à un autre. Cette année, je travaille avec un mélange VANROBAEYS.
My preparation begins in the winter days. From october to March all of my pigeons are in an aviary. I only give food, water and minerals. During the moulth period they have moulth mixture and after they receive a mixture based on diet and light. In March I put my pigeons in their lofts. I have wood chips on the bottom and roosters in the boxes so that I can clean only one time in the week. Sunday is cleaning day. With this method I have more time with my birds and I can observe them a lot. My birds have all the time to eat on the lofts. I empty the feeders one time in the week. They know better what they need then I. I don’t like the up and down methods that’s why they have the same mixture the whole week. I don’t feed peanuts and never give vitamines. I don’t know how to give vitamines that’s why I don’t give them. If you or someone can help me about this I would be pleased. Since 3 years I don’t use any medicine. Before the season I was at the veterinary and he said that my pigeons are empty of anything and in top condition. I do without medicine since I use the products of Alexandre Margris, MAPP SYSTEM. I am not a man for plans. I work with feeling. Sometimes I use this, sometimes that. It depends of the weather, the days, the conditions of my birds, the way they train. What I do every week ist that : beginning of the week EPATODRAINE, end of the week PULMORESPI.
I like to see my birds flying that’s why they train twice a day from March on. I never use a flag or something like that. Windows are open and they do what they want. Before the racing season I train my birds myself after what I put them in the basket every week if weather is good. Before the season I choose differents brands for food and do a germination test. After the test I choose my mixture. This year I am working with VANROBAEYS.
Peux-tu me décrire ton élevage et les souches présentes ? Can you describe me your breeding loft ?
J’ai environ 20 couples de reproducteurs, dont 8 que j’utilise réellement, et nous avons aussi quelques couples d’éleveurs chez Christian. J’élève au grand maximum 70 jeunes par an. A la base, j’avais des pigeons Hovaert (Sion) que j’ai ensuite complétés avec des DEGUILLAGE, des Robert BEN, des BAVENCOFF, des Jelle JELLEMA en 2007 – dont la mère de INVICTUS et ARISTO) et des pigeons de mon copain Fred IANNI aux origines PEIREN. J’ai aussi quelques individualités TANTARD, GYSELBRECHT…
